The Pandemic Makes for a Vulnerable Period

The current pandemic that calls for social and physical distancing can be a lonely period for many. It could also be a good time to look for love, but practice caution as new data from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCA) revealed that romance scams placed second only after investment scams costing Australians $131 million from the record breaking $851 million Australians lost to scams in 2020.

As the pandemic prolongs, countries across the globe are seeing a spike in cybercrimes and scams. Malaysia too, where it was reported that cybercrime shot to 82.54% in Malaysia while a significant number of scams and phishing sites were detected last year worldwide.
