LinkedIn Data Breached, 700 Million Users Compromised!

The adage “once bitten, twice shy” simply means that if you have had a negative experience the first time, you will exercise caution to ensure the experience does not repeat itself. But this does not apply to LinkedIn who found themselves once again in a massive breach that reportedly exposes the data of 700 million users. Yes, you read that right! The second time within a year.

Fortune.com reported in April 2021 that data from over 500 million LinkedIn users was sold online to hackers, marking the second major cybersecurity incident to be revealed in that week, following news of a similar occurrence involving Facebook,. With the second data breach at LinkedIn, it is said that more than 92% of the total 756 million users are compromised with the database for sale on the dark web, with records including phone numbers, physical addresses, geolocation data, and inferred salaries.
