Vaccination for Approximately 5.8 Million Affected!

With new variants being discovered, the Covid-19 pandemic continues to ravage countries and our salvation at this point is getting vaccinated. According to data collected by Bloomberg, and touted as the biggest vaccination campaign in history, more than 4.27 billion doses have been administered across 180 countries.

All this raw data only goes to show equitable access to safe and effective vaccines is critical to ending the COVID-19 pandemic and every country and its leader must play a part in making this possible. While every nation is collectively fighting an enemy that cannot be seen or heard, in Italy, it was reported that hackers have attacked and shut down the IT systems of the company that manages COVID-19 vaccination appointments for the Lazio region surrounding Rome, the regional government said on Sunday.

Data associated with a large public health database was also encrypted, though the government has backups of the data, local outlets have reported.

The region’s Facebook posting explained that a powerful hacker attack on the region’s CED (database) is under way and that all systems had been deactivated, including those of the region’s health portal and vaccination network, and warned the inoculation programme could suffer a delay.
